Prairie Seed Ornament Cards

We have created a new product - a plantable seed ornament card. The recipient of your card can plant the ornment attached to it in the garden to be rewarded with blooms that can bring memories of you and a special day or time.

Paper pulp is made from a base of recycled pulp - anything from used coffee filters to dryer lint - in the very same way that the paper pulp is prepared to created our home-made paper. This pulp can be combined with plant fibre from the garden, glitter, or anything else that you may find interesting. Just prior to putting the pulp into your molds stir in some seeds.

Pour this pulp into a strainer and gently squeeze out some of the excess water as you press it into molds - candy or soap making molds can be used. Use a sponge to remove as much of the excess water as possible. Put this into your freezer to set the pulp-mold for at least an hour. This will allow you to quickly pop the pulp out of the molds. Place your ornaments out to dry in front of fan.

It is important to dry the ornaments as quickly as possible.
If the shapes were left to dry at room temperature without speeding up the process, you could risk having the seeds start to sprout.

You can purchase the completed ornament cards from us for $3.50 per card plus shipping. Or, if you would like to create your own ornaments, we have dried botanicals available to add to them.

Once we have a shipping destination, we will calculate the shipping costs, and bill you either through the secure PayPal site if you wish to pay by credit card, OR we will email you an invoice so you can pay via cheque or money order. Once payment is received, the product will be shipped.
